Fresh Cut

New Haircut
Top: Milk Nursingwear in Coral

I love my new cut, you guys!

My hair feels so much lighter and softer. And I can still pull it into a ponytail. I asked the hair stylist give me "soft" layers. Overall I was quite pleased with my first experience at a hair salon.

Though I'm sure I was pretty awkward. I told the lady right away that this was the first time that I had had my hair professionally cut and she said, "You'll be just fine, dear." She thought I was 19 or 20.

She offered to curl my hair for three more dollars, and I decided to go for it rather than pull out all of my stuff at home (we were going to my family's later that day and I didn't know if I would have time to curl it myself).

Before & After

Anyway, here's a before and after shot of the back. My hair was pretty scraggly, wasn't it? I don't think it had been trimmed for over a year.

How do you have your hair cut at the moment? Do you like it?

  1. Wow...I voted to keep it, but after seeing the pics, it looks so much healthier at a shorter length! Very pretty!

  2. You look wonderful! I would love to go that short but can't - it doesn't suit me and my hair is so curly. But it looks awesome on you and must be so convenient with little Helen for the summer. Congrats and enjoy, you look great!

    1. Aw, thanks! And I'm jealous of your curls. :) Yeah, the shorter length will definitely be nice for warmer weather.

  3. I voted to keep is too, but now I am glad you cut it. I neeeeeever say that. It frames you so well, and looks so much healthier. My hair is the same it has always been - trimmed straight across. Boring, but I like to braid and wear buns, so it doesn't really matter. It has a nice texture so I love it just the way it is!

    1. Thanks! Wish my hair had some texture - it's either dry or straight and slippery. :) What kind of buns do you like to wear?

  4. I am delurking to say I LOVE IT! I am so jealous. I am itching to go get mine cut that length, but have a couple of more inches to go before I can donate the length. And it definitely makes you look more your actual age, though enjoy the youthful look as long as you can.

  5. It looks wonderful, Erica! You look like a woman now and not a kid. A very pretty woman, too. I vote for you to chop it off and I'm glad you took my advice! ; )

I have my hair cut really short right now (since you asked), kind of the pixie-ish cut that a lot of actresses have. I go back and forth with it, where I'll let it grow out and then chop it all off, but I'm too old for long hair now.

    Best,

    Diane

    1. Aw, thanks so much, Diane! I wish I was brave enough to try a pixie cute - not sure it would suit my face shape, though. :)

    2. From your pictures, your hair appears to be quite straight. Do you have any natural curl? My hair is stick straight and won't hold a curl, not even a permanent. I did find that hot rollers worked well to give my some lift (my hair is very thick) and curl when my hair was your length. I also found them easier than a curling iron when my kids were small. No worrying about little ones burning themselves when your back is turned. Have you tried any of the sites that let you change your hairstyle with photoshop? That way you can try out a cut without committing. : )

How does Rueben like it? I bet he loves it.

  7. Your hair looks lovely! You are inspiring me to cut mine short again. I am tired of combing through the tangles and waiting for it to dry! Let us know if it is easier/quicker to work with especially when raising a little one. :)

    1. I definitely think it's easier to work with - didn't think I'd say that! I haven't tried braiding it...I'm sure it won't be as easy to do that. But as far as curling and putting it up, it's just as easy now.
